eTwinning Theme 2025-2026 as Basic Skills Action Plan in Arı Schools
As part of the European Commission’s Union of Skills strategy, the 2025 Basic Skills Action Plan focuses on strengthening five essential skills: literacy, mathematics, science, digital competence, and citizenship. These skills are critical for helping individuals think critically, adapt to change, and actively participate in society.
Literacy involves understanding and communicating through various forms—spoken, written, visual, and digital—across subjects and contexts.
Mathematics focuses on reasoning, problem-solving, and using data to make informed decisions.
Science encourages individuals to engage with scientific ideas, interpret evidence, and understand natural phenomena.
Digital competence means using technology responsibly and effectively, including media literacy, online safety, and content creation.
Citizenship promotes active, responsible participation in society, with an understanding of civic, social, and political systems.
These core skills support resilience, inclusion, and democratic values, helping learners navigate AI, digital tools, and real-world challenges.
How our school support this mission as an eTwinning School 2025-2026:
eTwinning calls on educators to collaborate in equipping students with these skills through real-life projects and inclusive teaching practices.
At our school, students will develop these core skills while learning English, Germand and Spanish as a foreign language within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). Through interdisciplinary learning and inquiry-based activities, students will:
- Strengthen literacy by reading, writing, and communicating in English, Germand and Spanish across subjects
- Use English to explore scientific, mathematical, and civic concepts
- Engage with digital tools and global peers in collaborative eTwinning projects
- Reflect on global issues and take action as responsible citizens
In this way, foreign languages become both a tool for communication and a gateway to mastering essential skills for lifelong learning.
